Former General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Reverend Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, has blasted the politicians for taking advantage of the nation.

He claimed that Ghana is now at the mercy of corrupt politicians who act without consequence.

He claimed that Yaw Osafo-Marfo, Senior Presidential Adviser to President Akufo-Addo’s appeal for Christians to spearhead the fight against corruption is nothing more than a “political sound bite.”

Rev. Opuni-Frimpong said on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey on August 23, 2023, that politicians are more likely to profit from the country through corruption.

“I think corruption on the side of State institutions, the government and then the Church. The church and their Christian education and worship that they have. Let me start with the side of the government that past and present governments have not proved to anybody that they are serious with the corruption fight.

“They have just made the corruption fight a political sound bite. They are all benefiting from it. Now going into politics has become business. They are all milking the nation. Therefore, if I found the government official just doing this when I heard it in the room. It sound like a cliché,” Rev. Opuni-Frimpong stated.

speaking on Saturday, August 19, 2023, to the 23rd General Meeting of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Kwahu Abetifi, Eastern Region.

Yaw Osafo-Maafo questioned whether the Church had a positive moral influence on the 70% of Ghanaians who identify as Christians.

Senior Presidential Advisor Yaw Osafo Maafo lamented that corruption in the nation is getting worse rather than better, which necessitates reflection on the part of the church and the government in order to identify workable solutions to lessen the scourge.
