The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong has outlined some measures he has in place to combat corruption if he is elected as the president of Ghana.

One of the cankers drawing the development of Ghana backwards is corruption.

The ordinary citizen view all politicians as corrupt since they easily amass wealth and properties within few years after appointments.

Appearing on ‘Mpu Ne Mpu’ morning show on UTV, Kennedy Agyapong reacting to a question how to tackle the issue of corruption if he becomes the president of the country.

In his submission, the NPP flagbearer aspirant said he would sack any appointed minister under his administration who goes to the office late without any prior notice.

According to him, even if the sacked minister’s family, pastor or chief intervenes, he will never listen to any of them.

In addition, he stated that he’ll also announce his sacking publicly to disgrace so that it will deter other ministers from being indiscipline.

Responding to questions about awarding contract with high inflation and procurement law breachers, the MP for Assin Central said if elected as the president in 2024, he’ll never award a contract with 300%.

According to him, “In business if you are able to make profit after taxes between 15%-30% you survive in business, but in Ghana we award contract to people with profit of 300%, this will never work under me.”

Speaking about corruption, Yaw Osafo-Marfo, a senior presidential advisor to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has claimed that corruption in the nation is getting worse rather than better.

He asserts that the Church must be a key player in the fight against corruption in the nation.

Speaking to the 23rd General Meeting of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana over the weekend in Kwahu Abetifi in the Eastern Region, Osafo-Marfo questioned how we could defend the Christian faith when Christians were responsible for 70% of all funds stolen illegally from the public coffers annually.
