North Tongu’s representative in parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has warned President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo against sending Ghanaian troops to Niger as part of an ECOWAS military intervention to restore democracy.

He instructed the President to present his Niger policy for review to Parliament.

After the President approved ECOWAS’ plan to send troops to restore ousted President Mohamed Bazoum, he reacted.

At the ECOWAS Extraordinary Meeting in Abuja, the declaration was made by ECOWAS President Omar Alieu Touray as he read the organization’s resolution regarding the coup in Niger.

War and bloodshed cannot be the solution, according to Ablakwa, who commented on the development in a Twitter post. He added that diplomacy and constructive dialogue are needed to resolve the war in Niger.

President Akufo-Addo must immediately stop his mobilization of Ghanaian soldiers for an ECOWAS war in Niger.

He must submit his Niger Policy to Parliament for scrutiny.

Many people who saw Niger’s capital Niamey as a partner in the Sahel who they could work with to quell a growing uprising by groups affiliated with al-Qaeda and ISIL (ISIS) consider the July 26, 2023 coup a major setback.

A Minister of Finance of Niger has been given two days to account for all money stolen by corrupt politicians or faces firing squad.

This comes after Col. Maj. Amadou Abdramane, the Niger coup leader announced that the constitution has been abolished after holding President Mohamed Bazoum in custody.

On Wednesday along with nine other soldiers in uniform standing behind Col. Maj. Amadou Abdramane, he said “We, the defence and security forces… have decided to put an end to the regime you know.

“This follows the continuing deterioration of the security situation and poor economic and social governance.”

The heads of the ministries would handle day-to-day operations, he added, adding that all of the nation’s institutions had been suspended.

In a new update on the Niger coup, the Finance Minster life is on the line after the coup leader gave him ultimatum to account for the funds used by the overthrown government.

In a video sighted, Abubakar Sani Bello, the Finance Minister seated at press conference could be seen shedding tears following the directive from Amadou Abdramane.
