Former White House Chief of Staff Julius Debrah claims that John Mahama is not the kind of man who would be easily persuaded to serve as a running mate.

This is in response to his name being mentioned by a number of interest groups and people as a potential running mate for former President John in the 2024 presidential elections.

The former chief of staff issued a statement in which he distanced himself from the sentiment that these organizations and people had expressed in the media.

“I have worked with President Mahama and continue to be a close confidante of his. I have garnered enough experience working with him to know that he makes the right calls at the right time. He is not the kind of person to be lobbied for such a position,” Mr. Julius Debrah stated.

Relatively, former Adentan MP and Director for Special Duties for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Kojo Adu Asare, has urged Mr. John Mahama, the party’s nominee for the 2024 elections, to think about picking a different running mate than Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman before the elections.

In an exclusive interview with the Overseer newspaper, Kojo Adu Asare acknowledged that Naana Opoku Agyeman is a wonderful woman who embodies all the virtues that a good person can, but that she is simply not a good politician for a position as running mate.

She had a chance in the 2020 election, but she squandered it, he claimed.

Adu Asare asserts that he did not observe Prof. Naana Jane making a significant contribution to the NDC ticket in the 2020 general elections.

Adu Asare responded that the NDC as a party has many men and women who can perform better than Naana Opoku Agyeman when asked what names he might suggest replacing Naana Jane.
