The current Minister for Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development and Member of Parliament for the Okere Constituency, Dan Botwe, has broken his silence and endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) top pick for the upcoming 2024 elections.
At a party gathering in Okere, Dan Botwe, who has had a long and illustrious career in the NPP, made this proclamation.
Dan Botwe highlighted his broad experience within the party and his in-depth familiarity with the NPP and its leading figures.
He acknowledged the ten candidates vying to be the party’s flagbearer and declared his love for each and every one of them while reiterating his unwavering commitment to the NPP.
“When it comes to the future of our beloved country, Ghana, the NPP is the only party that can guarantee progress,” Dan Botwe declared, rallying the crowd.
The seasoned politician emphasized the significance of making a strategic choice to ensure victory in the upcoming elections. He did this with a keen eye on the political landscape and an intimate understanding of the inner workings of the party.
“After much thoughtful consideration and careful analysis, I am confident that the best strategic decision for the NPP is to elect Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as our flagbearer,” Botwe asserted, prompting applause from the attendees.
He went on to say that Dr. Bawumia’s unwavering devotion to the NPP and impeccable track record of competence were the driving forces behind his selection.
Notably, Bawumia’s candidacy receives a significant boost from this public support from a powerful party official like Dan Botwe, raising his profile within the party and perhaps altering the dynamics of the race for flagbearer.
This development raises questions about the NPP’s future plans as it prepares for the elections in 2024.
Demands for Dr. Bawumia to succeed President Nana Akufo-Addo have been steadily increasing, with calls coming more frequently from party members.
Now that Dan Botwe has publicly endorsed the Vice President, a strong message is being sent to NPP members all over the country: Bawumia has the strategic acumen and commitment necessary to lead the NPP to victory in 2024.
