The hearing in the case involving the widely circulated video in which an Adisadel College final-year student was seen brutalizing another has been postponed, according to His Lordship Eric Oheneba Antwi Boasiako, the judge presiding over the Cape Coast District Court.

According to 3nwes.com, the case was postponed until September 27 to give the students time to get ready for the upcoming West African Senior Schools Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).

According to additional reports, the judge’s chambers were used to hear the case due to the delicate nature of the subject.

Although many members of the public and the parents of the two teenagers were present to observe the proceedings, nothing of the sort happened.

The accused student, who is still out on bail, refuted the accusations of assault and causing harm made by the prosecution.

The Adisadel College’s Senior Housemaster, Ekow Holman, was detained by school officials after the widely denounced incident and is still under suspension unless the investigation’s findings clear him.

The now-suspect was seen in viral footage brutally assaulting another student in the video that ignited public outrage.

He left the victim helpless while holding him by the neck with his inner arm before slamming him against a metal bed in their dorm room. Instantly, the victim’s face began to swell.

The victim and his attacker were later suspended by the school, which infuriated Ghanaians because it didn’t make sense why the victim should be punished on top of the violence he had experienced.

The Ghana Education Service and other stakeholders’ intervention resulted in the suspect being charged with a crime, while the victim was recalled from suspension and received medical attention. A psychologist was hired by the school to give him the support and counseling he needed to recover from the trauma.

The assault occurred on June 30, but according to school officials, the students didn’t tell them about it until recently.
