COPEC Fuel prices are expected to rise beginning on August 1. Petrol is expected to cost $13.27 per liter and diesel will cost $13.93.
Duncan Amoah, theChamber Of Petroleum Consumers’ (COPEC) Executive Secretary, claims that the “pump prices of Petrol and Diesel are likely to increase on average by about 9% over the current mean price of GHS11.90/L across the country whilst LPG prices increase by about 20%.”
He gave an explanation for the increase, stating, “The prices of finished products on the international market have shot up by average of around 12% for both petrol and diesel whiles crude price has increased by 10.53% from the mean price of $75.85/barrel to $83.84/barrel, even though the forex or Dollar exchange rate has relatively decreased from a previous average of GHS11.7848 to GHS11.6433 (-1.20%) per $1.”
The anticipated retail figures for petroleum products beginning on Tuesday, August 1, were provided by Mr. Amoah.
In other news, at a national vote held in Cape Coast, Mr. Gyimah Boafo, the president of the Ghana Red Cross Society, was re-elected.
Dr. Edward Donkoh, vice president, Mrs. Adwoa Sarpong Bonsu, health adviser, Mr. John Kwame Fosu, treasurer, Mr. Solomon Gyakye, legal adviser, Mr. Abdul Razak, national youth organizer, and Mr. Emmanuel Yeboah Gyan, public relations officer are the other elected executives.
The five council members are Mr. Patrick Asante Nuro, Mr. James Kuunsaana Donkor, Mr. Franklin Odaw Ntow, Mr. Gabriel Amihere, and Mr. Gorden Kojo Mensah.
The new executives will serve for 24 months. Its vision is to prevent and lessen human suffering by mobilizing the power of humanity.
In his victory speech following the election, Mr. Gyimah Boafo thanked the 52 delegates for placing their trust in him as the top provider of volunteer-based humanitarian services in Ghana.
