Rasmus Hojlund will join Manchester United from Atalanta in a deal worth €75 million plus an additional €10 million in performance-based add-ons.
The forward is expected to sign a five-year contract with an additional year’s option, according to a report from The Athletic earlier this month.
The 20-year-old was valued at €90 million by Atalanta.
On Wednesday, United made a verbal offer to Atalanta for €50 million plus €10 million in add-ons, and on Thursday, Paris Saint-Germain countered with their own €50 million offer.
His placement in the squad has already been planned out by the Premier League team.
Hojlund is the top target for United, but Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt and Mohammed Kudus of Ajax were also on the radar.
In the face of interest from both United and PSG, Hojlund has made it clear to Atalanta that he wants to leave.
According to viral reports, PSG offered higher salary to Hojlund but the Denmark youngster has rejected the Ligue 1 side in favor of a move to Old Trafford instead.
Erik ten Hag who is desperate to have a new striker in a recent interviewed pointed out that the club was ready to do everything possible to get their target.
According to ten Hag, Man United know their target and they remain focus on getting the forward to be soon integrated into the squad ahead of the new anticipated season.
Atalanta insisted on a straight cash deal and rejected United’s earlier this month offer of money and players in exchange for Hojlund.
Hojlund moved from the Austrian team Sturm Graz to Atalanta only last summer. In 31 Serie A games, he scored eight goals and added two assists.
In March’s Euro 2024 qualifying matches, the international player for Denmark also scored five goals in two matches, including a hat-trick against Finland.
After Mason Mount and Andre Onana, he is expected to be United’s third summer addition.
