A vote for the flagbearer candidates of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) was held in advance of the special delegates conference on August 26.

Kennedy Agyapong chose the top spot after the voting was completed in Accra today, July 26, 2023, and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen chose the second spot.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the leading candidate and vice president of Ghana, chose the tenth position.

In connection with this, Kennedy Agyapong has issued a warning that he will not run for the NPP because some of the party’s supporters keep criticizing him.

The Assin Central MP stated in an interview that if he is not chosen as the party’s flagbearer, he will travel to the United States of America.

“I’m telling you, if they continue the way they are going , big no. If they go the way they are going, when I lose, I will go back to America. You say you can win, win without Ken Agyapong.

“Let Adomako Baafi and all those guys go and do the campaign. You think I’m a fool to spend my money for these young guys to insult me? If they stop, fine. If they don’t, then count me out,”Ken Agyapong emphasized during an interview with Home Radio.

Agyapong insists that he is ready to lead the NPP into the 2024 general election, but he also makes it clear that he won’t consider losing the election for flagbearer to be a major setback.

He is adamant that delegates should support him because he has practical solutions to the many problems facing Ghanaians.
