Good Evening Ghana host There is a perfect explanation, according to Mr. Paul Adom Otchere, for the $1 million in cash discovered in Cecilia Dapaah’s residence.
Only $200,000 of the $1 million belonged to Cecilia Dapaah herself, according to the Good Evening Ghana host; the other $800,000 belonged to Cecilia Dapaah’s late brother, who gave it to her late mother before he passed away.
“When he died Cecilia Dapaah’s mother called Cecilia Dapaah that the brother had left $800,000 and I think I should let you have it. So Cecilia carried 800,000 dollars from the village to Accra. The $800,000 was described to police as belonging to Cecilia Dapaah’s late brother.
Mr. Adom-Otchere claims that everything he says is recorded on the police charge sheet.
“If you get it, it is there, you will see it, it was written months ago” When the man died, Cecilia Dapaah’s mother called and said your brother’s money is still with me and I still think I should hand it over to you and with the consent of the other siblings they decided to give the money to Cecilia Dapaah,” Mr. Adom-Otchere said.
Paul claimed that Cecilia Dapaah only contacted the police because she was about to experience a family trust crisis.
“How was she going to explain to her siblings that the money given to her by her mother is stolen. She was going to suffer a family integrity crisis” Mr. Adom-Otchere said.
The Special Prosecutor is currently looking into Cecilia Dapaah to determine where the money came from and determine whether or not a crime has been committed.
Meanwhile, it has come to light that investigators from the Office of the Special Prosecutor found additional cash while searching Cecilia Dapaah’s former homes in Abelemkpe and Cantonments, where she served as Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources.
The amount of money discovered by the officials was so large that it took them five hours to finish counting, according to a report by TV3’s Eric Mawuena Egbeta.
