    After an incredible last season with his boyhood club, Marcus Rashford has agreed to a new five-year contract with Manchester United.

    Manchester United announced in a statement on Tuesday that Marcus Rashford had agreed to a new five-year contract.

    The 25-year-old England forward has extended his commitment to the club, which he joined when he was seven years old, until 2028. His previous contract with the organization had an expiration date of 2024.

    According to The Athletic, a number of elite clubs in Europe, including Paris Saint-Germain, were interested in signing the attacker and may have even offered more lucrative contracts than United. Rashford, who helped Erik ten Hag’s team win the Carabao Cup final and have their best-ever season at the club, has nevertheless pledged his future to United.

    This is what Marcus Rashford had to say after extending his contract with his boyhood club;

    “I’ve already had some amazing experiences at this incredible club, but there is still a lot more to achieve and I remain relentlessly determined to win more trophies in the years ahead.”

    “I joined Manchester United as a seven-year-old boy with a dream. That same passion, pride, and determination to succeed still drives me every time I have the honour of wearing the shirt.”

    “I can assure you that I will give everything to help the team reach the level we are capable of, and I can feel the same determination around the dressing room. I couldn’t be more excited for the future under this manager.”

    On Wednesday, United plays Lyon in their second preseason matchup before leaving for their tour of the United States, where they will play Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund.

    Meanwhile, ex-Man United defender, Jonny Evans has signed a short-term deal with the Red Devils after leaving Leicester City and will be available for their next two pre-season games.

    According to reports, Jonny Evans impressed ten Hag and the coaching staff on Tuesday after joining the first-team training session.

    On more Man United transfer news, Manchester United have agreed preliminary personal terms with Rasmus Hojlund and have spoken to Atalanta over a deal, although there is a gap in their valuations of the striker.

    Also, the need to comply with financial fair play is expected to impact on Manchester United’s pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund and they will likely need to raise funds from sales before completing another major acquisition.
