At Assin Breku, the regional capital of Assin North in the Central Region, two people have been burned to death.
On Thursday, July 13, 2023, an unidentified assailant attacked a 63-year-old woman in her room with a cutlass in Assin Breku.
At the St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu, the machete attack victim is currently receiving medical attention.
After learning about the incident, the town’s youth started looking for the suspects.
The angry mob later found two suspects in a nearby bush and detained them there. They were thought to be responsible for the woman’s attack.
Even the presence of the police was ineffective in stopping the perpetrators.
The men were attacked by and burned by the mob.
Some locals claim that the suspects, who are thought to have been hired by a few people to commit the crime, are unknown to the neighborhood.
The angry mob prevented Nana Kotroka Frimpong Baah, the tutohene of Assin Breku, from saving the suspects.
“What is worrying is that the mob did not have patience but killed the suspects. If they had taken their time, we would have found the killers who sent the individuals to engage in this act. This generation is really after money and we see these things on our television screens.
“The youth are deceived into believing that quick money is good and this is what is pushing most of the youth into engaging in these acts,” Kwabena Appiah a resident said.
