A Ghanaian man has been detained by police in Berks County, Pennsylvania, USA, on suspicion of being involved in his wife’s death.
According to reports, the district attorney stated that an investigation found that Winifred, 46, and Harrison Boakye had a physical altercation in the restroom prior to Winifred’s tragic death.
Winifred had reportedly been manually strangled, which led to the death being ruled a homicide, according to the authorities.
The Ghanaian man was detained and initially charged with aggravated assault on the day of the incident. However, according to reports, the District Attorney stated that Boakye was charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder, and other offenses on Wednesday, July 12.
According to additional reports, the lawyer revealed that Harrison Boakye is still being held in the Berks County Jail.
On Friday around 8:30 a.m., Fleetwood Police received a call stating that a domestic dispute had broken out at a residence in the unit block of Middletown Road. When police officers quickly arrived, they discovered a 33-year-old woman inside the house not breathing.

The victim was desperately trying to be saved by the officers and EMS, but they were unable to do so, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The death of the mother of two was the subject of an investigation by Berks police.
The Ghanaian couple had a history of domestic disputes, according to a local resident who only went by the name Hartman, but her death caught everyone off guard.
“Due to knowing domestic issues prior, we kind of thought maybe she’d had enough. We weren’t sure, but yeah so we were very shocked when we did hear that she was deceased.
“The thing is you don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. They seemed like the perfect family. They just put new equipment out there for the kids,” Hartman is quoted to have said.
The couple’s two children are rumored to have been taken into the Berks County authorities’ shelter in the meantime.
