In connection with the brutal murder of Lance Corporal Calystus Amoah during a bullion van robbery at the Star Oil Filling Station in Ablekuma Fanmilk, the Kansehie District Court remanded two individuals into police custody.

Rashid Abdul and Benjamin Ojogbe, the suspects, have been accused of plotting and committing murder.

According to police prosecutors, the two were among a group of armed robbers who ambushed the bullion van, shot the young officer inside, and then fled with more than GH145,000.

In the wee hours of June 22, 2023, one of the robbers was seen on CCTV footage firing at a police officer while walking directly toward the passenger side of the bullion van.

The Ghana Police Service quickly began a manhunt for the criminals after the incident went viral and made news headlines. According to reports, hours after the incident, law enforcement officers detained some of the suspects and are still looking for the others.

On Monday, July 3, they were charged in the Kansehie District Court, but no pleas were accepted.

Drama reportedly broke out in court as the suspects reportedly became emotional and argued, insisting they were not guilty of the alleged offense.

According to reports, police officers responded to a tip and detained the suspects near Kwame Nkrumah Circle. They were reportedly drinking and having fun when the police barged in and took them into custody.

According to reports, the young officer who was killed recently got married and has a toddler with his wife.

This specific incident is just one of numerous bullion van robberies that have been documented across the nation in recent years.

For the first time, the police officer’s wife has spoken about her husband’s death during the bullion van robbery at Ablekuma Fan Milk.

The recent widow claims that her late husband was a devout Christian who didn’t play around with his prayers.

In a conversation, the bereaved Amanda revealed that at around 1:40 pm, her husband sent her GHC 150 for a biometric registration. This was prior to his shocking death.

She called him again after completing the biometric registration, but he didn’t pick up, leading her to believe he was at work.

She initially believed that her husband was being investigated by the police because she believed he had misappropriated money.
