Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) deputy national communications officer Kweku Boahen has made disparaging remarks about President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, claiming that if divine punishment for dishonesty still occurred as it did in the past, the President would have been killed for his repeated lies.

The president, according to Kweku Boahen, is only regurgitating speeches that have been written by his handlers.

His remarks come after Akufo-Addo recently expressed confidence in reviving the nation’s economy during Eid-Ul-Adha celebrations, saying, “We’re working to revivify the economy, and Inshallah, we shall do so.”

Speaking in a panel discussion on UTV’s Adekye Nsroma on June 29, 2023, Boahen exclaimed, “Those times that God used to kill people, if we were in those days, Akufo-Addo would have been struck dead, he doesn’t speak the truth.

“He is a liar, he is like Bawumia, and he doesn’t even know what is happening in the country.”

In addition, he questioned the President’s knowledge and skills, asking if he could write a check for 3 million Ghana cedis if given a pen.

He continued by criticizing President Akufo-Addo’s purported lack of interest in the affairs of his country and asserting that the President hardly ever reads and often nods off during speeches.

“Can Akufo-Addo write three million Ghana cedis cheque when you give him a pen? Can he write? Does he even know what is happening in the country, he doesn’t read, for him every day he is asleep, every program that he goes he sleeps… He claimed that there is light, ask anybody within Accra that for about two months have they been able to get a meter in their house? he added.

Kweku Boahen asserts that the President makes empty promises rather than evoking hope and aspiration. “The president that we look up to, to give us hope and aspiration is telling us trash, and you want us to entertain him, Akufo-Addo is a waste president.”
