Assin North by-election results on Tuesday resulted in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) losing its bid for a parliamentary seat, and a Polling Station Executive blames Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the party’s defeat.

Mr. Dominic Owoahene speaking in an interview on Metro TV monitored by InsightNewsgh.com, he accused Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of interfering and projecting himself during their campaign prior to the Assin North by-election.

He said while they were on the ground canvassing vote for NPP’s candidate Charles Opoku, Dr. Bawumia was busy projecting himself.

According to him, during their last campaign at Assin North constituency, Dr. Bawumia and his entourage walked through the crowd while Mr. Alan Kyeremanten was speaking to the supporters.

Mr. Dominic Owoahene claimed that the actions of the Vice President drew the attention of the NPP supporters to himself and making Alan Kyeremanten looking less of important.

In a related news, President Nana Akufo-Addo has urged party supporters to remain optimistic and maintain their faith.

After the voters chose their next representative in parliament by casting ballots, Nana Addo is optimistic that Assin North will turn blue once more soon.

Akufo-Addo thanked the Chairperson and Members of the Electoral Commission for conducting a peaceful, free election in a Facebook post.

“Yesterday, Tuesday, 27th June 2023, Ghana’s democratic credentials were strengthened even further, following the conduct of peaceful and credible elections in the Assin North by-election.

I congratulate warmly the Chairperson and Members of the Electoral Commission, again, for a job well done. The security services are to be commended for maintaining law and order during the holding of the elections; as is the media for providing extensive coverage before, during, and after the elections.

I congratulate the National Democratic Congress on its victory yesterday.
