President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to strengthening the faltering economy.

He claims that the government is making a concerted effort to revive the economy.

He said the government would keep up the policies and initiatives that had made sure “things are getting better.”

On Wednesday, June 28, 2023, he gave the assurance while addressing a group of Muslims at the Eid-ul-Adha celebration in Accra’s Black Star Square.

The deadly coronavirus pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, he claimed, are wreaking havoc, but efforts are being made to withstand them.

The President attributed the decline in inflation to the stability of petroleum product and local currency prices.

“I said at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic that we do not know how to bring back lives, but we know how to bring back an economy. I stand by those words. Insha Allah, we are working to restore the economy to full health, and, Insha Allah, we shall do so,” Akufo-Addo added.

President Akufo-Addo said that recent currency fluctuations have been somewhat stable, and thanks to the Gold-for-Oil Program, “we have seen stability in the prices of petroleum products as well, all of which are bringing inflation down. Things are getting better, and will get better, I can assure you. Things are getting better and will get better.”
