I Am Confident That Assin North Will Be Blue Again – Akufo-Addo Speaks After Losing by-election

Assin North by-election results on Tuesday resulted in the party losing its bid for a parliamentary seat, and President Nana Akufo-Addo has urged party supporters to remain optimistic and maintain their faith.

After the voters chose their next representative in parliament by casting ballots, Nana Addo is optimistic that Assin North will turn blue once more soon.

Akufo-Addo thanked the Chairperson and Members of the Electoral Commission for conducting a peaceful, free election in a Facebook post.

“Yesterday, Tuesday, 27th June 2023, Ghana’s democratic credentials were strengthened even further, following the conduct of peaceful and credible elections in the Assin North by-election.

I congratulate warmly the Chairperson and Members of the Electoral Commission, again, for a job well done. The security services are to be commended for maintaining law and order during the holding of the elections; as is the media for providing extensive coverage before, during, and after the elections.

I congratulate the National Democratic Congress on its victory yesterday.

I urge members of my party, the New Patriotic Party, to keep their heads up, recognizing that, in a democracy, there are winners and losers, and that we live to fight another day. We once held the Assin North seat, and I am confident that, sooner rather than later, Assin North will be blue again.”

Meanwhile, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to strengthening the faltering economy.

Akufo-Addo claims that the government is making a concerted effort to revive the economy.

He said the government would keep up the policies and initiatives that had made sure “things are getting better.”

On Wednesday, June 28, 2023, he gave the assurance while addressing a group of Muslims at the Eid-ul-Adha celebration in Accra’s Black Star Square.

The President attributed the decline in inflation to the stability of petroleum product and local currency prices.
