The government is on track with its Agenda 111 project, according to the information minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

88 of the promised 111 hospitals, according to him, are currently being built. The Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration promised to build the remaining 111 hospitals, he claimed.

Mr. Oppong Nkrumah stated during a press conference in the Ashanti Region that the majority of hospitals are operating on schedule.

“The brief I have is that 88 are currently under construction and it is grouped into eight zones and in those eight zones, you will find 54 projects. We have visited 33 sites so far and we thought that coming to Trede, where it all began, it is important to showcase from Trede all that has gone on so far.

“We have also provided you with the reports of the sites that we have visited so far, the majority of them that are doing well, the few of them that are behind schedule. We have also updated you on the ones that we have had to terminate because they are behind schedule.”

The project will have enough funding to be completed, according to Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare, the president’s health advisor.

When finished, he added, these hospitals will provide job opportunities for nurses and support Ghana’s overall economic development.

President Nana Akufo-Addo launched the project, which calls for the construction of 111 hospitals, on August 17, 2021, with a commitment to finish it in 18 months.

Obtaining land for construction in some districts has been difficult, raising questions about the government’s commitment to the projects.

In a related news, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to strengthening the faltering economy.

He claims that the government is making a concerted effort to revive the economy.

He said the government would keep up the policies and initiatives that had made sure “things are getting better.”

On Wednesday, June 28, 2023, he gave the assurance while addressing a group of Muslims at the Eid-ul-Adha celebration in Accra’s Black Star Square.
