James Gyakye Quayson, the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) parliamentary candidate in the Assin North by-election, is reporting victory and is inundated with congratulations from his supporters.
According to preliminary results, he defeated Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party and Bernice Enyonam Sefenu of the Liberal Party of Ghana.
However, the by-election’s official results have not yet been released by Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC).
But the 2020 candidate for the House of Representatives used his official Facebook page to express his gratitude to the Assin North Constituency residents for giving him another chance.
Several influential party leaders have sent him congratulations.
James Gyakye Quayson, a candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is in a commanding lead in the by-election, according to preliminary results that are slowly trickling in from the Assin North constituency.
Upon completion of the required procedures by the Electoral Commission, he will probably be declared the winner.
Along with Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Bernice Enyonam Sefenu of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Mr. Quayson entered the race.
According to preliminary results from the 99 polling places in Assin North, Mr. Quayson received 17,205 votes, or 57.4% of the total, while Charles Opoku of the NPP received 11,389 votes, or 42%.
Relatively, Franklin Cudjoe has indicated that the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) James Gyakye Quayson‘s victory in the Assin North Constituency by-election is a disgrace for the current and future New Patriotic Party (NPP).
His election as a Member of Parliament (MP) in 2020 was declared null and void because he had not received a confirmation of the renunciation of his Canadian citizenship at the time he filed to run for the position of MP in his constituency. For him, the power of the state was used to cruelly treat him.
Mr. Cudjoe pointed out that because Mr. Quayson is still alive, he is king.
