Popular Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu founded a school in Santasi-Kumasi as part of his effort to give back to the community, but he has regrettably shut it down.
The actor explained why he decided to shut down Kwaku Manu Educational Complex, claiming that when the residents of Santasi learned that he had taken his kids to the United States, they began pulling their kids out of the school.
“I took my children to the United States six to seven years ago, and when I went back to Ghana, about 20 to 22 parents had taken their children out of my school,“ the actor said.
Kwaku Manu explained in a video posted by YouTube user Hello Frank that he had taken his kids on a vacation abroad, but what happened next shocked him.
According to Kwaku Manu, the significant student withdrawal had a significant impact on both the enrollment and overall operation of the school.
According to Kwaku Manu, he delayed bringing his children back to Ghana at that time in order to give them time to experience American culture before it was appropriate for them to return.
However, this choice sparked unfavorable rumors and conjectures in Santasi. “It started going around that I had taken my children out of the country” with impressions that I used proceeds from the school to relocate my children to the U.S.
He defended his choice to bring his children to the United States by saying, “I was able to build a school, so with the job I did to build the school, can’t I do the same job to take my children abroad?“
He emphasized that “They claim the school fees they were paying were what allowed me to take my children to school, and as I speak, some of these parents owe me three terms, and the school fees were 100 cedis and 50 cedis.”
Kwaku Manu added that the situation was made more difficult by unpaid debts. “I was tired of the situation, so I stopped operating the school,” he revealed in the interview below.
