According to reports, Chelsea rejected Manchester United’s third offer for England midfielder Mason Mount but then made a “counter offer.”

In an effort to strengthen his midfield, United manager Erik ten Hag has made Mount one of his top summer targets.

The Red Devils made an initial offer of £40 million before countering with offers of £50 million and £50 million plus $5 million in add-ons.

However, numerous reports state that the Blues have rejected the third offer.

Chelsea initially valued Mount at around £70 million before lowering their estimate to £65 million. In response to the second offer, which was worth £55 million with add-ons, Chelsea requested “£60 million plus £7 million in add-ons.”

Fabrizio Romano, David Ornstein, and Matt Law claim that Mauricio Pochettino’s team has yet again countered, telling United to pay them £58 million plus £7 million in add-ons, saving a cool £2 million.

According to Romano, Chelsea also offered to meet in person to reach a compromise.

The Athletic correspondent Ornstein claims that the “counter proposal” has been put forward in an effort to reach an “amicable solution,” contradicting what Law reported exactly.

All three parties are hoping for a “swift resolution” because United needs Mason Mount signed before they leave on their preseason tour of the United States.

After the 24-year-old turned down several offers to extend his contract at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea is “keen to comply” with his desire to leave.

Ben Jacobs claims that despite having their third offer rejected, the Red Devils won’t give up.

Mount seems intent on quitting the club he has played for since he was six years old.

Mason Mount who does not want to see the deal collapse is prepared to fight for his move to Manchester United, also in terms of joining them as a free agent next summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
