Due to the subsequent Assin North by-election in the constituency, the Assin North Constituency is currently the focus of attention in Ghanaian politics.
Bigwigs from the two largest political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which is the main opposition force, and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which is in power, have visited Assin North to canvass for votes.
James Gyakye Quayson was expunged from parliament after the Supreme Court of Ghana ruled that he was ineligible to run in the 2020 election, and the two parties are doing everything in their power to win the Assin North seat, which was declared vacant after.
In a latest development ahead of the Assin North by-elections on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia defied the rain to commissioned an Astroturf in the constituency.
The video captures the Vice President in the company of the NPP National Youth Organizer, Nana B walking through the heavy with some government officials as they stormed the newly constructed pitch to exchange pleasantries with the team who were about to play.
The luck players who shook hands with Dr. Bawumia and Nana B were seen beaming with smiles.
Dr. Bawumia was heard encouraging both teams to give their best to make the game exciting to watch.

Still on the Vice President’s activities during the week, the 31.2 km Assin Fosu to Assin Praso stretch, which links Ahwian Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region with Yamoransa in the Central Region, has been officially opened by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to Mr. Bawumia, the N8 highway’s completion will reduce travel times for the nearby communities.
Dr. Bawumia, the person who gave the order to build the road at Assin Praso, said that the 58 million US dollars in funding provided by the Japanese government helped to complete the project. He also said that the government would continue to find additional funding to complete the final 67 kilometers between Assin Fosu and Yamoransa.
