Previously, it was reported that Mason Mount of Chelsea is the subject of a third offer from Manchester United that will cost about £55 million.
The Old Trafford team will also issue a warning that if the Blues reject the offer, they will end talks with them.
The England international is thought to be worth £70 million to Chelsea.
Since Mount only has a year left on his contract and negotiations for an extension have stalled, United believes that amount to be excessive.
Chelsea has already turned down United’s offers of up to £40 million and £50 million for Mount.
Erik ten Hag, the manager of United, wants Mount to be his first acquisition of the summer as he looks to bolster his team following their qualification for the Champions League for the upcoming season.
Personal issues are not anticipated, and Manchester United is confident the player wants to join them at Old Trafford.
Mount, who has 195 appearances and 33 goals for Chelsea since his debut in 2019, missed the end of the domestic season due to injury, which resulted in the Blues finishing in 12th place, their lowest place in more than 25 years.
He played a key role in Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the 2021 Champions League final. With the Blues, he also captured the Uefa Super Cup and Fifa Club World Cup.
The 24-year-old was a member of manager Gareth Southgate’s squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and has 36 caps for England, tallying five goals.
Mount graduated from Chelsea’s youth program before signing a loan deal with Vitesse in the Netherlands for the 2017–18 season. In 29 Eredivisie games, Mount scored nine goals.
The following season, he was loaned to Derby County, where he scored eight goals in 35 Championship games for the Rams, who lost to Aston Villa 2-1 in the play-off final.
Mount made his breakthrough under the recently appointed Lampard when he returned to Chelsea in 2019, and he quickly established himself as a key member of the team.
Mauricio Pochettino, a former manager of Tottenham, was hired by Chelsea last month to replace interim manager Lampard, who had taken over after Graham Potter was fired.
