After sharing her opinions on Yvonne Nelson’s just-released memoir, “I Am Not Yvonne Nelson,” Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur Victoria Lebene has taken action to dispel the public’s misconceptions about her feelings toward Yvonne, a fellow actress.
Due to its mention of some significant figures, the memoir, which was released on June 18, 2023, has caused considerable shock and sparked heated online discussions and debates.
The spouse of Ghanaian blogger Nkonkonsa, Victoria, offered her perspective on the situation, saying, “If everyone came out to tell a story of what people have done to them every step of the way, do you think we would be safe in this world or country??? Don’t act like you are a saint when you’re not!” on her Instagram story.
Victoria’s remarks, though, quickly drew criticism from fans who disapproved and called her out for her viewpoint.
Victoria Lebene clarified her position in an exclusive interview with Graphic Showbiz, stressing that she does not harbor animosity toward the “Princess Tyra” actress despite their previous falling out over her husband’s article about Yvonne.
Victoria agreed that Yvonne had the right to express her feelings, but she voiced concern about the graphic details that were included in the memoir. “I do not hate Yvonne, not at all. I just feel she went overboard with some of the intimate details she shared. I am not saying Yvonne shouldn’t voice out how she felt, but she should have been sensitive about how she went about it,” she explained.
The mother of two emphasized the importance of taking into account other people who were involved in similar experiences because they might also need healing. Sharing personal experiences can help people heal, but she issued a warning that it’s important to be aware of the explicit nature of some admissions.
Victoria made the point that some of the people mentioned in the book—like Sarkodie—have since gained notoriety, and that any explicit revelations might have an adverse effect on their families and brands.
Victoria emphasized that not everyone is as resilient as Yvonne Nelson and that some people might find it difficult to deal with such revelations. She stated that she would eventually write a book with the intention of empowering and advising readers rather than going into explicit detail about her own experiences.
“If I have to write a book, it will be one to empower people, to advise people. I don’t think I want to give a memoir of how I have had sex or how many times I have had an abortion; it doesn’t make sense. But this doesn’t mean I hate her; this is my opinion. It is okay if it’s a strategy to sell the book, but sometimes, we should check the sensitivity of things we say and do,” Victoria concluded.
Victoria Lebene sought to clear the air in her exclusive interview by highlighting her concerns about sensitivity and restating that her feelings for Yvonne Nelson are not motivated by hatred but rather by a desire for careful consideration.
