Prior to the Assin North by-election, which is scheduled for Tuesday, June 27, 2023, Sammy Gyamfi, the national communications officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government of frantically trying to buy votes.
He claims that the government is using state-owned fertilizers and backpack sprayers to buy Assin North votes.
Sammy Gyamfi said the shipment is currently traveling to Ningo, Gangan, Ayittey, and other NDC strongholds in the constituency in a message to Pulse Ghana.
He claimed that Justin Kodua, the general secretary of the ruling party, Stephen Ntim, and other prominent members of the party are in charge of the team.
Sammy Gyamfi provided evidence of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/NPP government’s abuse of taxpayer funds for political purposes.
James Gyakye Quayson‘s name must be removed from Parliament’s rolls as a member, the Supreme Court ruled unanimously.
The Court ruled on May 17, 2023, that Gyakye Quayson’s election as the MP for Assin North was unconstitutional because he had dual citizenship at the time he filed to run in the 2020 elections.
Michael Ankomah Nimfa, a resident of Assin Bereku in the Central region, brought Quayson before the court to prevent him from holding himself out as an MP after the Cape Coast High Court invalidated his election as the MP for Assin North in July 2021.
Relatively, ahead of the Assin North by-elections on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, legendary actor Kofi Adu popularly known as Agya Koo has defied the rain as he stormed the community to campaign for NPP’s candidate Charles Opoku.
