A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Executive for Offinso North in the Ashanti Region, by name Vincent Acheampong is under investigation by the Ashanti Regional Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as well as the Suame Divisional Police Command on many criminal allegations.
The self-styled fraudulent car dealer who is the subject of several complaints from his victims in different regions of the nation, was apprehended at his hiding place at Breman UGC, a suburb of Kumasi, after engaging in a game of hide-and-seek with the authorities for several months.
His method of operation was stealing cars from reputable car dealers and pretending to sell them on their behalf before fleeing with the cash and cars.

As an illustration, it is established that he stole a journalist’s car from Tamale, traded it in, and then stole a businessman’s car from Kumasi with the promise of topping him up.
Vincent Acheampong who is a former parliamentary candidate aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Offinso North Constituency went into hiding and, despite numerous attempts, failed to locate that particular cross-country car. He issued fake cheques value of GHC190,000 when request to provide the vehicles intensified.
Because the counts were inactive, the cheques were not accepted by their respective banks.
After receiving a formal complaint, the Suame Police tracked him down for several months until apprehending him on Monday, June 2023.
The Ashanti Regional CID requested that he should be moved to the Regional Police Command to aid in investigations pertaining to other crimes given that other complainants were looking for him.
According to sources, the suspect was charged today, Wednesday, June 21, 2023, in court on several counts. This comes after numerous people who were target of his actions rushed to the police to file complaints against him.
Prosecutors say they won’t allow petitions from Vincent Acheampong’s family for bail because they believe he poses a flight risk.
