The majority leader in parliament, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has issued a strong statement opposing John Dramani Mahama’s reelection as Ghana’s president.
He claimed that preventing the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) flagbearer from winning in the general elections of 2024 is the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) top priority.
In an interview with TV3, Annoh-Dompreh emphasized the value of upholding discipline within the NPP caucus as she promotes Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to serve as the party’s flagbearer.
He stated, “There is a lot of discipline in our caucus. You cannot openly campaign on our platform, and if you do, I will remove you from the MPs’ WhatsApp platform.”
Annoh-Dompreh continued by saying that while MPs recognize the importance of winning in their respective districts, she emphasized the bigger objective of stopping John Mahama from winning the presidency once more.
He stressed, “Our problem now is the NDC, not ourselves. We must not let John Mahama come close to the presidency because of his legacies. That is where our focus lies, not on ourselves.”
The lawmaker for Nsawam Adoagyiri emphasized that now is the right time for Dr. Bawumia to be in charge of the NPP.
According to him, since politics is defined by times and seasons, now is the right time for Dr. Bawumia to serve as the NPP’s flagbearer and then as president.
Today, June 16, Dr. Bawumia is anticipated to deliver his flagbearer nomination paperwork to the NPP headquarters.
Relatively, should he be elected president, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stated his intentions to advance Ghana.
If Ghanaians give him the nod in the general elections of 2024, he says he intends to make Ghana the digital hub of Africa.
On Friday, June 16, Dr. Bawumia addressed ecstatic party supporters after submitting his presidential nomination form at the party’s headquarters in Accra. He pledged to improve the nation’s fortunes if elected.
He declared his desire to build on the solid foundation currently being maintained by the administration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
