Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has stripped Nana Nketia Boampong II, the Chief of Kwaso, a town in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality, of his kingship due to an alleged fraud case.

His destoolment comes less than two weeks after Nana Kwame Owusu Agyeman, the chief of Antoa, was destooled by the Asantehene for breaking customary practices and making multiple land sales.

The Asanteman Traditional Council tribunal held a lengthy hearing at the Manhyia Palace before convicting the Kwasohene of defrauding some Kwaso royals.

He is accused of having promised to give over a vacant chieftaincy position in exchange for some money totaling Gh300,000.

The Kwaso chief was implicated for his involvement in multiple land sales, according to the council’s investigation after he initially denied the allegations.

After that, Nana Nketia Boampong II was disqualified for deception and lying.

In a related news, Antoa is a well-known town in Asanteman, and Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has commanded the destoolment of the chief there.

Over 20 years have passed since Nana Kwame Owusu Agyeman first sat on the throne. He has been charged with breaking protocol by appointing his nephew to succeed him while he is still alive.

The destoolment ceremonies have begun in earnest.
