Lionel Messi has reached a sensational agreement to join Inter Miami and will start playing football in Major League Soccer shortly.
Although the World Cup winner had other options, he ultimately chose Miami and the project that awaits him in the United States.
Messi’s future club had not been revealed, despite recent announcements that he would leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his current deal.
The player consistently said he would decide at the end of the season, and he has now done so.
“I’m going to Inter Miami,” Messi confirmed to MARCA. “After winning the World Cup and not being able to go to Barcelona, it was time to go to the US league to experience football in a different way.”
Inter Miami has officially announced the signing of Messi in a short video shared on the club’s Twitter page.

Although Messi’s new contract’s specifics haven’t been made public, it’s thought that both Adidas and Apple played a role in making it possible.
All MLS teams wear uniforms made by Adidas, Messi’s boot manufacturer, and Apple recently acquired the television rights to the league.
It is no secret that Lionel Messi has been negotiating a deal with the Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal for months, and the country’s sporting and political leaders were confident that the Argentina star would soon be gracing the Saudi Pro League.
A far better financial offer than anything else Messi had on the table, Al-Hilal was willing to make him the highest-paid football player in history.
But for a variety of reasons, Lionel Messi has chosen to reject the outrageous Saudi compensation and accept the offer from Inter Miami, the MLS team owned by David Beckham. He claimed that the caliber of the league and Miami’s appeal played a significant role in his choice.
