The late Christian Atsu’s widow, Marie Claire-Rupio, has defended herself in the wake of backlash over a video in which she can be seen dancing.
The German dancer and author gained notoriety after posting a video of herself dancing to Davido’s hit song “Unavailable.”
However, some of her fans weren’t impressed with the video and criticized her for dancing while her husband was recently gone.
In response to this, Claire-Rupio wrote on Instagram that she dances to cope with her grief, not because she’s happy.
She also mentioned that one of the ways she keeps herself occupied and maintains her strength for her children is through dancing.
“I am writing just to say a few things, yes I posted a dance video. Not because I am happy, but because I have to find a way to deal with my grief,” the widow said.
“I am not alone; I have 3 children to take care of by myself. I can’t lose myself because I need to be strong for them. And in Europe, you deal with mental health in a lot of ways, and dancing was always my passion.
“So, excuse me, but please just think before you write something or put it on YouTube. Thank you.”
