A number of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer candidates have chosen nomination forms to run in the party’s presidential primary.

An organization led by one of his assistants, Benjamin Armah, picked up the nomination forms for the former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko.

Both Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, a former general secretary of the NPP, and Francis Addai-Nimoh, a former member of parliament for Mampong, chose to run for office.

The Addai-Nimoh spokesperson, George Obeng Antwi, is optimistic that his boss will be president of Ghana in 2025 and is confident of winning the election.

“We just went for the forms for Addai-Nimoh. We are friends of Addai-Nimoh, and we believe that he’s the best person to lead us into the next general elections. What we are saying is that, if the NPP can win the next general elections, it has to be someone who is not part of this administration,” he said.

The nomination forms were chosen by the “Bawumia Fun Club” on behalf of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The group decided that Dr. Bawumia should be chosen to lead the NPP in order to help the party “Break the 8” and maintain control in the 2024 elections.

If Bawumia is chosen to be the next president of Ghana, in his opinion, he is the only member of the NPP who has the ability to transform the nation.

Relatively, the fifty thousand Ghana cedis (50,000) nomination fee for the flagbearership race has been set by the ruling NPP.

This occurs prior to the nominations’ official announcement on May 26, which is set for that day.

According to a press release issued on Thursday, May 25, the deadline for nominations is Saturday, June 24.

“Consequently, an Aspiring Presidential Candidate shall obtain the Nomination Forms after payment of a non-refundable nomination fee of Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢50, 000.00) only, through a Banker’s Draft,” the statement said.
