Before he formally announced that he would take part in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) upcoming presidential primary elections, a video of a convoy of pickup trucks carrying Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s (VP) picture went viral on social media.
The video shows the MG T60 pickup trucks driving through the streets of the nation’s capital while sporting Dr. Bawumia’s campaign logo.
On the internet, the video has elicited a range of responses, with some of the vice president’s supporters expressing enthusiasm over his willingness to fight for power and others harshly criticizing the vice president for obtaining vehicles for his campaign despite the country’s current economic challenges.
Dr. Bawumia, the vice president, is a serious candidate for the NPP’s flagbearer position, competing against others like Kennedy Agyapong, Alan Kyerematen, Afriyie Akoto, and Kwabena Agyapong.
The Vice President sought their support when he announced his intention to run in the primaries during a meeting with the NPP caucus in parliament. In the upcoming days, his official announcement is anticipated.

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is willing to do everything within its power to break the 8 in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
Speaking to some NPP faithfuls, Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia reiterated that the NPP will surely break the 8.
According to him, he’s 100% convinced that the NPP will defeat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer elect Mr. John Dramani Mahama in 2024 elections because they know how to beat him already.
Dr. Bawumia therefore called on the party faithfuls to work together as one people in order to make this dream possible.
Talking about Mahama, if he is elected president, he has pledged to reinstate the licenses of banks that he thinks were improperly shut down.
He claimed that his administration would establish a multi-tiered banking system to strengthen Ghana’s financial system.
The pledge was made on Monday, May 15, 2023, at the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale by the NDC’s newly-elected 2024 presidential candidate.
On May 13, 2023, following the NDC’s presidential primary, John Mahama was selected as the party’s flagbearer.
