The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Awal Mohammed has thrown his weight behind Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to win the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries.
According to Awal Mohammed, Dr. Bawumia is the best person to lead the NPP government to break the 8 in the 2024 general elections.
Explaining this point, he acknowledged that the other contenders for the NPP flagbearship race are competent however, Dr. Bawumia has worked his way through the ranks of the party right from being Nana Addo’s running mate to becoming the Vice President for 8-years.
“Yes, I support Bawumia, should not be anyone either than Bawumia because he’s the most technocratic vice president Ghana ever had. Through the leadership of Bawumia as the head of the Economic team we see relative stability in the dollar,” he said during a panel discussion on TV3 Newday.

Earlier this month, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia declared his intention to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the general elections of 2024.
The Vice President made this announcement in a meeting with the majority caucus in Parliament behind closed doors, according to a report by Accra-based Citi FM.
The majority of NPP MPs supported the Vice President’s action at the meeting on Tuesday night.
Dr. Bawumia is widely regarded as the favorite to succeed President Akufo-Addo in 2024, but he will face opposition from Alan Kyeremanteng, a three-time candidate who resigned in January of this year to concentrate on his bid for the presidency.
Former trade minister Alan Kyeremanten, former NPP general secretary Kwabena Agyapong, independent MP Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, and former agriculture minister Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto are other candidates for the position of flagbearer.
The NPP will choose a presidential candidate for the 2024 elections on November 4, 2023. Nine candidates have already declared their intent to lead the party.
