Reigning Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) ‘Songwriter of the Year,’ Perez Musik has shared some powerful testimonies received so far from his hit song ‘Hewale Lala.’
The celebrated Ghanaian Gospel musician was the guest artist on Best Entertainment Show hosted by Halifax Ansah-Addo on Okay FM.
Perez Musik revealed the inspiration behind the popular ‘Hewale Lala’ song which is making waves in the music industry since it release.
Narrating the story behind the song, he disclosed that during his most difficult times as a child of God, he got disappointed and decided not to communicate with God again because of the unpleasant circumstances he was facing.
According to him, one day, while walking around the streets of Accra Academy, with a teary eyes, he got to a tipper truck vehicle on the road which had Isaiah 41:10 written at the back.
He disclosed that the scripture inspired him to write the song.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10
He stopped behind the vehicle, stood for awhile then the song dropped. He then recorded the lyrics while walking on the street.
Asked if he has heard people sharing testimonies after listening to the song, Perez Musik indicated that he has received several of them.
Sharing a few of them, he noted that after he performed at an event, a certain man walked up to him and thanked him.
According to the man, he had plan on committing suicide prior to hearing the ‘Hewake Lala’ song. He noted that he had a change of mind after listening to the words of the song which inspired and encouraged him.
He also added that, another pregnant woman who had complications while at the labor ward requested her husband play the song, she delivered her baby safely while listening to the song played at the background.
At the 24th VGMAs last week Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Grand Arena, Perez Musik won the ‘Best Male Vocal Performance of the Year’ and ‘Songwriter of the Year’ awards.
The Gospel singer credited his success to God after picking up both awards on the night.
