Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a candidate for flagbearer, will perish, according to Allotey Jacobs, the former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He declared that the former finance minister had left the party.
According to Allotey Jacobs, Dr. Duffuor has effectively given those in the NDC leadership who he refers to as “dark horses” the upper hand.
“The dark horses in the NDC are at play…I would say this is the third trap. This trap is for Dr. Kwabena Duffour.”
Allotey claims Dr. Duffour is “finished in the NDC…Kwabena Duffour is finished so far as the NDC is concerned. This is a game where there are certain forces there that I call them the ‘dark horses’. All they wanted was for Dr. Duffour to go to court and he has also gone to court”.
According to the former NDC Central Regional Chairman, the goal of the plot’s organizers was to portray Dr. Duffour as the opposition party.
“It is about nothing but that being pushed to go to court and then letting the grass root that he is an enemy of the party. So, he is done; that’s all!”
In related news, Dr. Duffuor has withdrawn his lawsuit seeking an injunction against the NDC’s upcoming weekend primary elections.
The NDC’s presidential and parliamentary primaries are scheduled for May 13, 2023, but Dr. Kwabena Duffuor filed an interlocutory injunction on May 9 prohibiting the party and the Electoral Commission (EC) from holding the elections until a complete photo album register is produced.
Additionally, the former finance minister requests that the party send him the entire voter register at least five weeks prior to the election.
In related news, the Ghanaian Electoral Commission has ceased to monitor the NDC primaries.
The EC chairperson claims that the decision was made to avoid the commission being found in contempt.
