Dr. Kwabena Duffour’s request for an injunction prohibiting the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s presidential and parliamentary primaries was rejected by an Accra High Court today, Friday, May 12.

It came after his attorneys requested that the case be dropped.

When the case was called for hearing in court earlier in the day, the request was made.

The legal counsel for the NDC and the Electoral Commission (EC) did not object.

The Dr. Duffuor campaign team claimed it had not been given a complete list of those eligible to vote in the May 13 presidential and parliamentary elections.

He requested that the court postpone the elections so that the party could work with the candidates to develop a plan for creating an accurate voter list.

However, the NDC argued that it had already fixed the majority of the mistakes found by Dr. Duffuor’s team.

Thus, attorneys for NDC pleaded with the High Court to reject the application.

They insisted that the lawsuit was frivolous and ineffective in its current form.

They added that the case lacked a legal foundation.

“We submit that the plaintiff’s suit is incompetent and therefore ought to be dismissed in limine. Again, the plaintiff has not been able to demonstrate on the face of his pleadings and affidavit that it is just or convenient for the Honourable Court to grant the injunction that he seeks.”

In a related news, Mrs. Joyce Bawa Mogtari, a campaign spokesperson for former President John Dramani Mahama has debunked viral reports that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer aspirant has been involved in an accident with his convoy.

According to the official statement from the team, the former president hasn’t had any accident neither have they postponed his campaign.

The campaign spokesperson stated categorically that the accident that occurred involved the Regional team who went ahead of the Mahama to Yapei constituency.
