Issah Fuseini, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Okaikwei North, asserted that the New Patriotic Party would triumph in the 2024 general election if former President John Mahama served as the NDC’s standard-bearer.
He asserts that the opposition party will only succeed in winning the 2024 elections, as predicted by the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU), if it offers a substitute.
“Not long ago, the Economic Intelligence Unit, they’ve been consistent in their predictions and projections for upcoming elections. Looking at their last report, they indicated that the National Democratic Congress stand a good chance. But their previous report also shows that NDC’s victory will only be possible if there is a change of the flagbearership
“With the current happenings, it seems that our old friend is most likely going to represent them again. And if they do that, I believe breaking the eight will be possible,” he said on Accra-based Peace FM.
On May 13, 2023, all 275 of the nation’s constituencies are expected to vote in the presidential and parliamentary primaries of the opposition party NDC.
Dr. Kwaben Dffuor, a former governor of the Bank of Ghana, and Kojo Bonsu, a former mayor of Kumasi, compete against Mr. Mahama for the position of flagbearer.
To represent the party in the eagerly awaited 2024 General Elections, many party officials, MPs, and members have endorsed the former President.
The governing NPP, on the other hand, has formidable candidates running for the position of flagbearer in the hopes of “Breaking the 8.” These candidates have held various party offices.
Relatively, prior to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential primaries, Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah, a former minister for trade and industry, has endorsed John Dramani Mahama.
John Mahama should be elected by party delegates to lead the NDC and subsequently Ghana in 2024, according to Mr. Spio-Garbrah.
Dr. Spio-Garbrah claimed in a statement that former President Mahama was the best candidate to guide the nation out of its current economic mess.
