The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Kwabena Duffuor is complaining about inconsistencies in the party’s voter list ahead of Saturday’s primary elections.

Dr. Duffuor has canceled the upcoming presidential and legislative primaries scheduled for this coming weekend, May 13, 2023.

In a letter to the NDC General Secretary, Dr. Duffuor’s campaign team asserts that the decision is based on an unreliable and inaccurate delegate list that will likely be used for the elections.

Kofi Kukubor, the Duffuor campaign’s director of research and strategy, wrote the letter and asserts that the delay will give plenty of time for the register to be cleaned and a chance for a free and fair election.

There is a good chance that Dr. Duffuor’s chances will be permanently harmed by the voters’ list, which his campaign team referred to as “incomplete and inaccurate.”

According to them, they have discovered a number of anomalies in the 220 constituencies Voters Register that indicate it is both inaccurate and incomplete.

They claim that having an incomplete and inaccurate register before an election is a major issue because it raises concerns about the objectivity and legitimacy of the voting process.

“A comprehensive and accurate voter register is essential for ensuring that eligible voters are properly registered, and for preventing fraudulent activities such as multiple voting, impersonation and being refused a vote on the day of election. The incomplete and inaccurate Voters register has a high potential of deliberately causing an irreparable damage to the bright chances of Candidate Dr. Kwabena Duffuor-which we are unable to countenance. Considering the findings, Team Duffuor is demanding the following: Postponement of the May 13th Presidential primaries. Stakeholders meeting to establish an agreeable roadmap that will guarantee the integrity of the Voters Register”, the statement said.

The NDC has yet to respond to this request.
