A National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer candidate named Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has denied claims that he is receiving funding from some NPP members.
He claimed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had been his foe.
The former governor of the Bank of Ghana claimed that because the NPP has harmed most of his businesses, it makes no sense for him to support them.
This comes after his opponents falsely claimed that he had sponsorship for his campaign to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He claims that he has not received funding from the NPP to demolish the NDC, which he helped to create.
As part of his four-day campaign in the Ashanti region, he revealed this to the party’s delegates in the Adansi Asokwa Constituency.
However, Dr. Duffuor pleaded with the party faithful, especially the delegates, to ignore the divisive campaign his opponents are spreading among party members.
“I funded the NDC so I’m NDC and nothing can change my love for NDC. The NPP destroyed my banks and tried to collapse every business under my control. I want to tell you that the NPP has hurt me more than any other member of the party. The NPP can never use me to destroy the NDC. My main aim is to return NDC to power to make Ghana better,” Dr. Duffuor reiterated.
By thumb-printing #3 on the ballot, he begged the party members to support him so he could lead the party into the election of 2024 on Saturday, May 13, 2023.
Meanwhile, Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah chastised Ghanaians for holding the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration responsible for the country’s current economic woes.
The Ashanti Regional Minister argues that because every nation in the world is struggling, the government cannot be held accountable.
In an effort to quell criticisms that make him angry, he claimed that his party and the government are more like victims of a global economic crisis and are therefore not to blame for the state of the economy.
