In order to help the family of the deceased constable who was shot dead by an Assistant Superintendent of Police after an argument, George Akufo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, has assigned a police clinical psychologist to them.

A team of clinical psychologists has also been sent to the Western Regional Police Command, according to a letter, to provide psycho-social support to the command’s staff in the wake of the tragic death of a colleague.

In the meantime, a police investigation into the circumstances of the police constable’s death in the Western North Region on May 5, 2023, has started.

After an argument, Frank Nsiah, an assistant superintendent of police, shot and killed a police constable in the Western North Region.

ASP Frank Nsiah, the head of the Western North Regional Police Intelligence Unit, reportedly shot and killed Constable David Gbati on May 5 at around 19:45 while they were en route to Awaso in the Bibiani-Ahnwiaso-Bekwai Municipality for a task.

The unfortunate incident was caused by an argument that ASP Nsiah, who was reportedly drunk, got into with some of his subordinates in the service vehicle.

An ASP from the Western North Regional Police Command is accused of shooting the constable as they were leaving an operation on Friday night.

The deceased officer’s body has been placed in the morgue at the Sefwi Wiawso Government Hospital, and ASP Frank Nsiah has been held at the Sefwi Bekwai Police Station pending additional inquiries.

In a related news, the journalist who was attacked in Tamale, in the Northern Region, Sadiq Abubakari Gariba, has received assurances from the Inspector-General of Police, George Akuffo-Dampare, that the attackers will be apprehended quickly.

According to sources, the police are pursuing the suspects who have been on the run since the incident.

On May 3, Hardi Pagazaa, a former deputy communication officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the area, stormed the radio station and started a fight with the victim, a host of a live show for Dagbon Radio.
