Blacko says winning Artiste of the Year at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is a dream come true for him. He was widely predicted to win.

Black Sherif believes that his persistence and diligence since breaking into the Ghanaian music scene have contributed to his success. He is confident that his success will last as long as he exerts the same level of vigor.

The VGMA Artiste of the Year award went to Blacko, the youngest nominee among heavyweight contenders, who beat out tough competition from Piesie Esther, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, King Promise, Camidoh, KiDi, and Joe Mettle.

The singer of Kwaku The Traveller asserts that perseverance and hard work are the keys to winning Artiste of the Year.

“I worked hard to get to where I am now. It is a dream come through to actually see your hard work pay off. I put in hard work to make sure I achieve whatever I want and today here I am winning the ultimate award on the night”.

“I will not stop putting in the hard work because we are just starting. I always want to bring something new to keep my fans and Ghanaians asking for more. Big respect to everyone who voted for Blacko. You did not waste your votes because Blacko made you proud,” he revealed this in an exclusive post-VGMA interview with Graphic Showbiz.

Although gospel singer Piesie Esther lost the Artiste of the Year award at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards to Black Sherif, she says she is not disappointed because Black Sherif put in a lot of effort during the year in question.

The Waye Meyie singer asserted that the eight artists who qualified for the Artiste of the Year category deserved it because they all performed admirably.

“I won’t lie Black Sherif and all the other artistes who made there worked harder and it could have gone for any of us. Although the competition was tough between me and Black Sherif he won and I want to congratulate him on winning the ultimate” she told Graphic Showbiz.
