Aisha Huang, the galamsey queen, was found guilty after changing her plea in the immigration case she is fighting in the High Court from not guilty to guilty.
The Chinese galamsey operator had previously entered a not guilty plea to four counts of engaging in a mining operation without a license, encouraging others to participate in a mining operation, hiring foreigners illegally, and entering Ghana while barred from doing so.
Aisha Huang changed her plea in the final charge after several months of trial, but she maintained her not guilty plea for the counts involving illegal mining.
The verdict was reached after the prosecution presented its final witness, an immigration officer who confirmed that Aisha Huang had entered the country unlawfully.
However, the sentencing has been postponed until the conclusion of the entire trial.
On September 5, 2022, Aisha Huang was apprehended once more for the same transgressions.
Aisha was charged with engaging in the sale and purchase of minerals without a permit as well as mining without a permit, along with three other Chinese nationals.

In the aforementioned report, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng made the allegation that Mr. Otchere-Darko’s intervention resulted in the release of some Chinese who had been detained for illegal mining.
The Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), which was about to prevent Imperial Heritage Mining Company from mining in the forest because it lacked the documents allowing it to do so, allegedly called Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, a relative of President Akufo-Addo, to obstruct its work.
