Information reaching us is that court has dismissed the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral of Ghana, Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng’s contempt lawsuit against NDC MP, Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa.

About three months ago, Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng filed a request for the court to jail Mr Ablakwa for his conduct.

When the bailiff approached the lawmaker in the front yard of Accra-based Metro TV on Friday, February 3 to serve a subpoena for him, Ablakwa announced that he was on his way to parliament and so there would be no room for the bailiff to serve him again.

However, the bailiff insisted on the deputy and tried to put the summons in his car, but it fell to the ground. A video uploaded to social media shows Ablakwa violating a court order when the bailiff walked away.

According to Rev. Kusi Boateng, the MP’s behavior is contempt for the court and therefore he should be sent to prison.

The court after throwing away the case has slapped Pastor Kusi Boateng to pay GHC10k cost in addition.

    For to follow soon.

Meanwhile, the Trades Union Congress has urged the government to convert the National Cathedral project into a national hospital,

The TUC suggests that government direct extra funds from non-essential spending toward the growth of productive ventures, opening up opportunities for employment.

The theme of the May Day parade in 2023 is: “Protecting incomes and pensions in an era of economic crisis: Our responsibility.”

The TUC Secretary-General, Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, said that turning the cathedral project into a hospital will better serve Ghanaians while speaking at the 2023 May Day parade in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

“We have to change the situation ourselves as Ghanaians. We believe strongly that government can lead us out of this crisis, and the government can do so by cutting expenditure on non-essentials including the need to stop spending our hard-earned revenue on a national cathedral.”

“The president has always said he wants to create another Notre Dame in Ghana so we can attract a lot of visitors but we disagree. Comrades, it will be better to convert the project into a national hospital,”
