Argentina forward, Alejandro Garnacho has dropped a hint of his desire to wear the famous number 7 shirt at Manchester United.
Yesterday, the 19-year-old winger penned down a five-year long-term contract renewal with the Red Devils after months of negotiations.

The dazzling young lad broke into Erik ten Hag‘s first team at Old Trafford after leading the Man United U20s to win the FA Youth Cup last season – scoring two goals in the final to seal the victory.
Now it is no more a secret to many that Garnacho who sees Man United legend Cristiano Ronaldo as his idol – who previously wore the number 7 shirt, wants to be given the shirt to shine like CR7.
When Sancho signed for Man United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, he was tipped to take up the 7 shirt after Edinson Cavani but unfortunately Ronaldo returned a year after and reclaimed his famous shirt.
Ronaldo has left the famous 7 jersey vacant in the dressing room, but Sancho who is still struggling to prove his worth at the club is unlikely to be given the shirt looking at the pressure and the great history behind it.
Fast forward, Alejandro Garnacho has updated his Twitter profile after signing his new contract with the English giants.
@agarnacho7 is his surname on Twitter and it is drawing the attention of some fans into thinking that the Argentine fancy wearing the famous 7 shirt at Man United probably next season.
Whether he deserves to wear the 7 shirt or not there are a lot of factors that will be considered even though the final decision may lay on ten Hag’s hands.

Garnacho who joined Man United youth team from Spanish side Atletico Madrid at age 16 had this to say after renewing his contract, “Thank you, I’m very proud. It’s a great day for me and my family. I’ve worked a lot for this moment. I want to thank the manager for this opportunity. And of course, my family, all the coaches of the Academy and all those who have helped me.”
Meanwhile, ten Hag has declined Garnacho’s plea to forfeit United FA Cup final game against rivals Man City on 3rd June, 2023 to play for Argentina in the upcoming FIFA U20 World Cup.
