Former Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng has been sued by Mr. Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko for accusing him of wrongdoing in his 37-page galamsey report.

In the aforementioned report, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng made the allegation that Mr. Otchere-Darko’sinterventionresulted in the release of some Chinese who had been detained for illegal mining.

The Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), which was about to prevent Imperial Heritage Mining Company from mining in the forest because it lacked the documents allowing it to do so, allegedly called Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, a relative of President Akufo-Addo, to obstruct its work.

A permanent injunction prohibiting the renowned heart surgeon from using the same or other defamatory words against Mr. Otchere-Darko is what Mr. Otchere-Darko is seeking in addition to a retraction and apology from him.

He is also asking the court for damages in the amount of $10 million.

“An apology for and retraction of the words complained of and the particularised supra. A perpetual injunction restraining the defendant, whether by himself, his servants, agents or assigns, from repeating similar or other defamatory words against the plaintiff,” Mr Otchere-Darko demanded in his suit.

Your “intervention” freed Chinese spies and the IMCIM task force, but journalists were attacked by your client’s security personnel. Otchere-Darko to Frimpong-Boateng

Professor Frimpong-Boateng had stated in his report that Mr. Otchere-Darko’sinterventionin the fight against galamsey while he was in office also resulted in an attack on some members of the IMCIM task force and journalists by soldiers who were providing protection for Heritage Imperial, for which Mr. Gabby Octchere-Darko was a lawyer. This attack occurred while the soldiers were protecting Heritage Imperial from Mr. Gabby Octchere-Darko.

Professor Frimpong-Boateng, according to Mr. Otchere-Darko, “twisted” the facts surrounding “my inquiry” into why Heritage Imperial Limited’s mining exploration equipment was seized by the anti-illegal mining task force GalamSTOP despite the company’s legal operations.
