Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, better known as Ayra Starr, a Nigerian singer, has recalled how one of her secondary school teachers foresaw her success in the music business.
Ayra Starr mentioned in a recent episode of “Afrobeats Intelligence” with Joey Akan that her math teacher saw potential in her and even predicted that Mavin would sign her.
She mentioned how young she was at the time—14 years old—and how he inspired her to join the choir and get better at singing.
Years later, she claimed, she was signed to Don Jazzy’s record label, Mavin, just as her math teacher had predicted, after encouraging her to post her videos online for people to watch.

“I have a teacher that literally inspired me. He said I was going to be signed to Mavin. It’s crazy. I was 14 then, and he said, ‘Mavin is going to sign you. Start making videos.’ He would just inspire me. He was even Muslim, but he would tell me to go to church and join the choir. He was my math teacher,” she said.

In a related news, according to Ghanaian performer Feli Nuna, Musician Fuse ODG signed her to his Off Da Ground record label primarily for the “hype” and “show off.”
In response to Fuse ODG’s assertions that she was impatient while working for the label, Feli argued that Fuse had broken the terms of their contract.
“At this point I believe Fuse ODG signed me to his label for hype. Just for show. He wasn’t ready to do the work. I really had high hopes. Fuse disappointed me, to be honest,” she tweeted.
Feli Nuna claims that in 2020, almost two years after becoming independent, she received two record deals offers; “one from an American Record Label based in New York for $135,000 plus incentives; and OFF DA GROUND for no money(but a good percentage of splits of revenue and masters).”
She continued by saying that she selected ODG due to her friendship with him and his artistic accomplishments.
