A boy in Accra who was determined to study in spite of all the obstacles was seen on camera studying in the streetlights.

Somewhere in Accra, a boy is reading from books that are on display on a lawn behind a wall near a drain as he sits on a stone by the side of the road.

Abraham, a 5-year-old boy, is in Westlands, a suburb of the capital.

He affirms that he is in class five and that the reason he is there in the evening is so that he can copy his notes before the next day’s class.

He made the decision to interact with the boy when a Twitter user going by with the handle @teikoszn drove by.

Abraham studies every day while sitting under the streetlights because he doesn’t have electricity where he lives with his parents.

Many Twitter users have shown support for the boy since the video was posted there, and many of them have promised to help the family so that Abrahm won’t have to struggle so hard to get an education.

In follow-up tweets, Teiko wrote: “a lot of people reaching out to support already but i’m trying to get the right channel to get everyhting to them directly. i’m opened to advice and ideas on how to do that. For now now any form of support can be sent to 0203773217 – Teiko Yartey.

“hopefully by morning i’ll pay the parents of Abrham a visit to get the necessary details, needs and also inform them about the support from everyone. i didn’t expect this much support for the little boy but the good Lord had a bigger plan.”

“finally, we were opened to them about the amounts sent by every grateful heart and also most of the sponsorship proposals sent to me. grateful is an understatement to how they feel about your help and contribution to Abraham.”
