Legendary Ghanaian rapper Obrafour has filed a lawsuit against Canadian rapper Drake for allegedly violating the copyright to his 2003 song Oye Ohene (remix).

On his album “Honestly Nevermind,” Drake included the song “Calling My Name,” which features a sample from Obrafour’s song Oye Ohene (remix).

The Ghanaian rapper is seeking $10 million in damages for the copyright violation.

Obrafour claimed in the paperwork he submitted to a New York court that Drake’s unauthorized sampling of his song violated his copyright.

“Defendants released the Infringing Work on June 17, 2022, despite the fact that an agent of one or more Defendants had previously contacted Obrafour seeking to obtain Obrafour’s permission for the use of the Copyrighted Work in the Infringing Work.”

“Obrafour never granted Defendants permission to use the Copyrighted Work and the Infringing work was released mere days later,” parts of the document read.

The Ghanaian rapper claimed that after the release of “Calling My Name,” Drake and other defendants had greatly benefited from his work.

“To date, over the mere 304 days that have elapsed since the Infringing Work was released, the Infringing Work has already been streamed over 4.1 million times on YouTube, streamed over 47,442,160 times on Spotify, and streamed tens of millions of times on Apple Music.”

“In addition to generating enormous sums of global streams and sales across numerous platforms, the Infringing Work has also been exploited by the Defendants via other means, including live performance.”

In other entertainment news, Captain Smart has warned that men eat with their wives whenever possible to avoid eating poisoned food.

In support of Achraf Hakimi for pulling a fast one on his estranged wife by registering all of his properties in his mother’s name, the contentious media personality made this statement.

According to the morning show host of Onua TV, most men would not have been taken advantage of by their wives if they were aware of this strategy.

On Monday, April 17, 2023, Captain Smart related a tale about a sub-chief who passed away after eating food prepared by his wife.

“If your wife ever serves you food and she refuses to eat that particular meal, don’t eat else you’ll die. We will register our properties in our grandmothers’ name, not our mother’s. Our mothers are close so they can be disturbed. My mother comes first before everything”, he said.
