Edem, the boss of VRMG, expressed his displeasure about how some Ghanaians hire impersonators of famous musicians to perform at events.
There have been some individuals impersonating prominent Ghanaian musicians for a while, dressing up as lookalikes and occasionally playing their songs live at events.
This was initially thought to be not a big deal, but it appears that things are out of control as more and more people are hiring lookalike artists rather than the original performers.
A lookalike of Kuami Eugene was recently seen singing his songs at an event, which raised questions about why the organizers chose the lookalike rather than the main performer.
As a result, Ewe rapper Edem attacked those using lookalikes for their programs on social media, as well as some bloggers who are promoting these lookalikes.
His post claims that although the artist worked very hard to put the words together for a song, promoters prefer to book impersonators who have done nothing while the actual artist who released the song is out there trying to make a living.
He posted: “What a “COUNTRY” u book a look alike to sing songs that someone toiled all their life to perfect as a craftsman and bloggers who posting for free are the same ppl who take money to promote those who worked hard demma products..SMH”

Relatively, speaking in an exclusive interview with Halifax Ansah-Addo on Best Entertainment show on Okay FM, Kuami Eugene lookalike speaking on the behalf of the ‘Four Kings’ said they are not impersonating them to claim their names but to promote their music.
They called on the general public to be patient with them, adding that they have something special loading for their fans out there.
Clearing the air on song theft to make money, they said when they are invited for programs or go live on TikTok they do their own songs but the organizers and viewers request they do the songs of their respective lookalike.
